What is Championship Off Road Racing?
For eight years, Championship Off Road Racing has been recognized as the “Place to Race Off Road”. CORR’s success continues to evolve around a simple formula: Combine close, fender-to-fender racing on a course designed to allow the fan in the stands to see all the action on the track, while allowing television viewers at home to live vicariously through their favorite driver.

SPEED is the television home of Championship Off Road Racing, covering over 84 hours of racing action from the Lucas Oil Pro and Sportsman Series. The SPEED network is in nearly 70 million homes, covering nearly 60% of the U.S. (A.C. Nielsen Media, September 2004). This delivers a tremendous amount of coverage for racers and sponsors alike.

What continues to make Championship Off Road Racing the place to race off-road? Drivers, sponsors, and fans are drawn to the unique style of racing. Current NASCAR superstars Brendan Gaughan and Jimmie Johnson began their racing careers competing in the Championship Off Road Racing series.

Championship Off Road Racing provides a vertically integrated package for its sponsors. CORR not only serves as the sanctioning body of the sport, providing stability in the rules package, CORR also controls all television rights through its in-house production facilities. Lastly, through its series marketing programs, CORR guarantees sponsors will receive the same elements at each venue. It allows sponsors to do “one stop shopping” and is the main reason CORR continues its rapid growth.

This package is a huge selling point for racers as well. In 2005, 167 drivers (47 Pro and 120 Sportsman) representing 22 states and Canada, competed in the series. The reason for the continued increase in competitor turnout is stability. CORR racers can tell their sponsors the series has exclusive coverage on SPEED. They can also tell their sponsors that Lucas Oil Products is the Series Title Sponsor. This stability allows the racer to put together multi-year sponsor agreements and in turn, CORR continues to grow.

For the promoter, it is a similar situation. With a CORR sanction, the promoter knows they will have a large, competitive field. They know the package will bring television exposure for their local and regional sponsors, the community, and the racetrack.

When you realize that there are more trucks sold today than any other vehicle, and that the CORR Lucas Oil Series is the only off road series to have such a strong television package, is it any wonder why Championship Off Road Racing will continue to be “The Place to Race Off Road”?
